Position Summary:

Setup CNC lathes to support a production-paced environment. Routinely monitor the key process indicators to ensure the process is in control and quality product is being produced. Operate all equipment in the shop to support daily production needs.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Set-up CNC lathes and inspection equipment for production jobs in a responsive manner to support a production paced environment.

2. Operate all equipment in the manufacturing area to support daily production needs.

3. Create, maintain, and update setup procedures for all critical processes.

4. Maintain process controls on critical processes through maintenance of tooling and equipment, troubleshooting, and problem solving with the operators.

5. Routinely monitor processes to ensure process control and variation reduction using statistical tools and interaction with operators.

6. Take the initiative to drive process solutions through feedback and communication with manufacturing and engineering personnel.

7. Perform minor changes and modifications to existing production CNC programs.

8. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Five (5) or more years experience in the set-up and operation of CNC machines including Swiss screw machines.

Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of machine shop and tool room practices, understanding the machining properties of various metals and the proper application and operation of CNC equipment. Reading, interpreting and working from engineering drawings and work order instructions.

Skills: Verbal, written and listening communication skills. Strong math skills (e.g. shop math, basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry). Organization skills. Mechanical skills. Interpersonal skills.

Abilities: Measure dimensional tolerances using applicable equipment to read precision instruments and see and feel product defects. Understand, value and actively drive process optimization and variation reduction. Work well in a team atmosphere, possessing flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing priorities and be able to provide and accept constructive criticism. Lift up to 30 pounds and meet physical, mental, ergonomic, environmental and other requirements of the job. Read and interpret traveler instructions, procedures and drawings. Maintain hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate machines, tools and equipment. Move and reach around equipment in order to perform job responsibilities. Travel throughout the plant to perform job duties and responsibilities. Read, write, speak and comprehend the English language. Hear changes in frequency of machinery to ensure proper operation and safety. Maintain mental concentration for entire shift to perform job duties.
