Position Title: CNC Machine Operator
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Department: Production
Position Summary:
Operate CNC lathe, swiss machines, wire EDM, laser welder, laser cutter, laser marker, and inspection equipment to support a production paced environment. Routinely monitor the key process indicators to ensure the process is in control and quality product is being produced. Operate all equipment in the department to support daily production needs.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Operate CNC lathe, swiss machines, wire EDM, laser welder, laser cutter, laser marker, and inspection equipment to support a production paced environment.
2. Maintain process controls on critical processes through maintenance of tooling and equipment, troubleshooting, and problem solving with the operators.
3. Monitor processes to ensure process control and variation reduction using statistical tools and interaction with operators.
4. Take the initiative to drive process solutions through feedback and communication with manufacturing and engineering personnel.
5. Perform minor changes and modifications to existing production CNC programs.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 2 or more years experience in the operation of CNC machines. Swiss screw machine experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge: Knowledge of various tools and equipment including but not limited to: CNC lathe, swiss machines, wire EDM, laser welder, laser cutter, laser marker, Mycrona Optical CMM, dial indicators, micrometers, and other associated tools and equipment
Knowledge of various materials used in production
Knowledge of SPC
Skills: Communication (written and verbal)
Mechanical
Math (basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry)
Problem solving and troubleshooting
Computer/PC
Abilities: Operate applicable machines, tools and equipment including but not limited to: CNC lathe, swiss machines, wire EDM, laser welder, laser cutter, laser marker, Mycrona Optical CMM, dial indicators, micrometers, and other associated tools and equipment
Operate a computer workstation and the related hardware and software
Read and interpret traveler instructions, procedures and drawings
Measure dimensional tolerances using applicable equipment
Read precision instruments
See and feel product defects
Maintain hand-eye coordination sufficient to operate machines, tools and equipment
Lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Move and reach around equipment in order to perform job responsibilities
Travel throughout the plant to perform job duties and responsibilities
Read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
Hear changes in frequency of machinery to ensure proper operation and safety
Work under frequently changing priorities
Work under minimal supervision
Maintain mental concentration for entire shift to perform job duties
Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures
Work effectively as a team member and independently
