  Position Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Facilities Supervisor

Department: Maintenance

Position Summary:

Plan and perform predictive, preventative, and reactive maintenance in a high quality and cost effective manner. This position requires demonstrated proficiency in the repair and maintenance of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical repairs and maintenance.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems for equipment requiring reactive maintenance.

2. Install new equipment and systems, including electrical, hydraulic, plumbing and pneumatic hookups.

3. Identify necessary parts and supplies needed to affect repairs and perform maintenance activities, submitting purchase requisitions as necessary to procure needed items.

4. Provide assistance to manufacturing employees related to performance of daily maintenance of equipment.

5. Perform daily preventative/predictive maintenance tasks per computer generated work orders recording observations, parts used and number of hours for each job. Follow specific instructions contained within the work order for sequence of tasks, parts and supplies needed.

6. Use diagnostic tools, equipment and methods to troubleshoot and repair machinery used in a metal manufacturing environment.

7. Fabricate simple replacement parts for manufacturing and facilities equipment.

8. Maintain and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and facilities equipment.

9. Complete necessary purchasing paper work for the purchases of supplies and components needed for repairs and day to day maintenance.

10. Work closely with engineering during special projects, equipment installation, and process development projects.

11. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

5 or more years experience of industrial maintenance within a manufacturing environment with extensive mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic experience

Knowledge:

Knowledge of plant systems and equipment
Knowledge of various tools and equipment used in the facility
Knowledge of relevant OSHA safety standards

Skills:

Abilities:

Rig and level heavy equipment and machinery
Operate relevant tools and equipment
Use various measuring devices to check values and dimensions against allowable tolerances
Read prints, diagrams and drawings accurately
Understand common standard drawing conventions and symbols
Drive company automobiles (e.g. lifts, cars, trucks, etc.)
Work safely with various hazardous materials, chemicals and combustibles
Work under frequently changing priorities
Work under minimal supervision
Provide and accept constructive criticism
Work effectively as a team member and independently
Read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
Feel vibrations, wear patterns and fine details; hear tonal variations; and see subtle characteristics to evaluate various equipment for proper operation
See to type, write, read and proof various documents
Use hand-eye coordination to operate equipment, machines and tools throughout the plant
Make fine adjustments and maintain/restore machine tolerances to within 0.001” Hold and lift materials of 50 lbs. from side-to-side and overhead
Travel throughout the plant to perform job duties
Climb/work from ladders up to 30 feet high and work from roofs up to 70 feet high
Work while wearing a full body harness
Work from moving platforms
Work with and near various chemicals
Maintain mental concentration for full shift while performing job duties
