Position Title: Senior Project Manufacturing Engineer Position Summary: This key person is responsible for new product/process development by either (1) receiving, digesting, and effectively duplicating an OEM customer provided process or (2) or adapting the process in terms of DFM to Veridiam capabilities. Coordinate and direct process development, process improvement, and manufacturing activities. Interface as necessary with production employees, supervisors/coaches, engineers, management, vendors and customers to complete assignments. Seek optimum balance between process robustness, process cost and product quality.Position Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Lead, plan, and direct manufacturing process development and process improvement activities. Ensure that all resources (material, process, tooling, equipment, people, and training) are brought together in the proper sequence and on time to meet product and customer requirements.2. Provide technical input to estimating/quoting process. 3. Establish, proof, and transition to production the necessary tooling, equipment, manufacturing and verification methods to create and maintain capable and robust production processes. 4. Provide expert technical assistance and on-the-job training to the production employees and supervisors/coaches, and ensure all work is performed in an expeditious, complete, cost effective manner. 5. Oversee critical process development work. Review the work of others for accuracy, completeness, and quality. 6. Develop and implement process improvement plans based on cost, quality, and delivery needs. 7. Interface with production employees, supervisors/coaches, engineers, management and customers to develop a common understanding of needs, assess priorities and develop and implement process changes. 8. Plan process development in advance, when possible, coordinating with the Customer Service/MRP Department and in consideration of the manufacturing schedule to ensure economic and efficient use of material, people and manufacturing resources. 9. Develop an understanding of current and potential process capabilities and process control limits. Implement statistical process control (SPC) where appropriate. Provide on-the-job SPC training to the production employees and supervisors/coaches. Work with others to systematically ensure product quality through process control techniques. 10. Identify and order material, tooling and equipment necessary to support manufacturing operations. Recommend new equipment when justified by quality and/or cost benefits. Seek optimum balance between the value of the tooling inventory and development cycle time. Position Requirements Education: B.S. degree or a combination of equivalent education/training/experience in engineering, manufacturing technology or a closely related field of study.Experience: Progressive experience (a minimum of five years) developing and implementing tooling and processes in a precision production machine shop environment. Additional experience in engineering and/or manufacturing in metals fabrication is also useful. Direct experience with precision CNC machining processes on 4 and 5 axis mills. Wire EDM experience is highly desirable as medical products/components experience. A proven track record in project manufacturing and process engineering is required. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of precision CNC machining. EDM knowledge is a plus. In-depth knowledge of the design of tools and fixtures for component fabrication and assembly. Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process development. Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean and Statistical Process Control tools and techniques is also required. Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present ideas and information to people at all levels of the organization. Effective project leadership and project and task management skills. Effective organization skills that include the ability to plan, prioritize, organize, gather facts, and exercise sound judgment in problem solving and decision making. Strong work ethic, task and detail orientation. Abilities: Ability to function as a key contributor and facilitator in a dynamic job shop environment to digest, assess and translate customer requirements into tools, fixtures and processes to meet customer requirements. Ability to collaborate and champion change and implement process improvement initiatives. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships and interfaces with employees at all levels of the organization. Ability to work under general direction and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. Ability to travel throughout the plant to perform job duties. Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organization, attention to detail and project management skills are required.
