Position Title: Quality Assurance Engineer Position Summary: Develop, implement and administer a variety of methods and procedures to ensure quality processes, procedures, document control, inspection and other quality systems meet quality standards and requirements. Utilizes knowledge of Six Sigma/Business Process Reengineering to work cross-functionally to audit and improve operations and efficiencies. Lead and actively participate in corrective action efforts. Applies knowledge and experience of in-process and final inspections utilizing dimensional inspection tools such as CMM, optical comparator and standard measurement tools.Position Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Prepare control/inspection plans in accordance with customer order requirements. Work closely with Engineering and Operations to establish priorities, qualify processes, and effectively address process quality issues.2. Review procedures, purchase orders, drawings, manufacturing travelers, process data, specifications, supplier documents, certifications and reports for adequacy and completeness. Review requests for quotes from customers and assist in developing responses to ensure clear and comprehensive understanding of customer requirements during the quote stage. 3. Identify in-process and final inspection training needs and ensure proper training with documentation of Inspection and Production personnel to ensure methods and tools are properly applied. Establish employee qualification procedures and administer employee training, testing and certification programs. Conduct new employee indoctrination for plant quality systems. 4. Develop special tool/fixture concepts for inspection operations. Identify and order required standard gages and supplies. 5. Identify needed Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies and lead the implementation to ensure effectiveness of inspection/verification methods. 6. Actively participate in supplier qualification. Establish qualification requirements and ensure compliance. 7. Apply quantitative methods (i.e. Six Sigma) to identify, prioritize, problem solve, implement, and monitor process improvements. Prepare professional reports to management and customers regarding various processes, qualifications, and problems. Establish metrics to concisely and effectively show progress on established goals and initiatives. 8. Take a lead role to investigate causes of quality system failures and customer complaints and work closely with Operations personnel to develop corrective actions to eliminate those causes (Cause and Corrective Action-CCA/Preventive Action systems 9. Administer the calibration system: establish calibration methods, determine appropriate calibration intervals, and oversee compliance to the established system. 10. Participate in the review and disposition of nonconforming materials. Position Requirements Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade school (apprenticeship) or similar training/ certifications in Quality Systems highly desirable. Bachelors degree desired.Experience: Combined five (5) or more years of progressive experience as a Quality Engineer and/or Manufacturing/Process Engineer in an ISO 9001:2000 company. Direct/hands-on precision machining experience in a contract manufacturing and inspection environment is a plus. Knowledge: CNC and EDM manufacturing of precision metal parts and components. Quality engineering, quality control, dimensional inspection techniques for machined components including CMM, GR&R, auditing, procedure writing, document control, quality systems certifications (i.e. ISO, AS), formal corrective/preventative action, fundamental SPC concepts and application experience. Skills:Above average skills with process and project coordination, communication, facilitation, organization, interpersonal, problem solving, computer (adept with MS Office, including; Excel, Outlook & Word).
