BioDur® 108 Alloy has gained acceptance and has been used for instruments in the MRI field because it is essentially a non-magnetic material with very high strength.
Custom 455® Stainless is a martensitic age-hardenable stainless steel that addresses the need for high-strength alloys with good corrosion resistance to atmospheric environments. Custom 465® Stainless has been established as a candidate alloy for instruments because it has better corrosion resistance and fracture toughness. Carpenter L-605 Alloy is a nonmagnetic, chromium-nickel-tungsten-cobalt alloy possessing good oxidation and corrosion resistance as well as high strength properties at elevated temperatures. TrimRite® Stainless, which has been used for instrument applications, has been found superior to stainless Type 410 and Type 420 in terms of corrosion resistance, ease of fabrication and edge retention. Gall-Tough® Stainless is a high-silicon, high-manganese, nitrogen strengthened, austenitic stainless alloy which possesses superior self-mated galling and metal-to-metal wear resistance. Gall-Tough® Plus Stainless is a high silicon, high manganese, nitrogen strengthened, austenitic stainless alloy which exhibits superior self-mated galling and metal-to-metal wear resistance. AL 17-4 Precipitation Hardening Alloy is a chromium-nickel-copper precipitation hardening stainless steel used for applications requiring high strength and a moderate level of corrosion resistance. AL 17-7 Precipitation Hardening Alloy is a chromium-nickel-aluminum precipitation hardening stainless steel used for applications requiring high strength and a moderate level of corrosion resistance. Carpenter Stainless Type 304/304L is a low-carbon version of Type 304. Carpenter Stainless Type 316/316L is a low carbon version of conventional Type 316. Carpenter Stainless Type 420 has been used for cutlery, surgical and dental instruments, scissors, tempered rules, tapes and straight edges, gauges, needle valves, ball check valves, gears, shafts. etc. CP Titanium Grade 2 Pure titanium pundergoes an allotropic transformation from the hexagonal close-packed alpha phase to the body-centered cubic beta phase at a temperature of 882.5°C (1620.5°F). Titanium Alloy Ti 6AI-4V Through the use of alloying additions, the beta phase can be sufficiently stabilized to coexist with alpha at room temperature. This fact forms the basis for creation of titanium alloys that can be strenathened by heat treating. Carpenter MP35N Alloy is a nonmagnetic, nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy possessing a unique combination of ultrahigh tensile strength (up to 300 ksi [2068 MPa]), good ductility and toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance.
